Peter Brotherton

Peter Frederick Brotherton (born February 4, 1931 in Boston , Lincolnshire ) is a former English track cyclist .

Peter Brotherton was a specialist in the individual pursuit on the track . He achieved his greatest successes as an amateur in this discipline: in 1954 he finished second in the pursuit both at the Commonwealth Games in Vancouver and at the World Track Championships in Cologne . In 1955 he was again vice world champion in the single pursuit. In 1956 he took part in the Olympic Games in Melbourne in a tandem race and finished fourth with Eric Thompson .

After the Olympics, Brotherton stayed in Australia and drove three six-day races ; In 1959 he won the Sydney with Sid Patterson . In 1957 he won the " Bendigo Golden Mile". He worked in Melbourne as a frame builder - his bikes were called "Petrus" - and as a cycling trainer.
