Don Potts

Donald Edwin "Don" Potts (born October 5, 1936 in San Francisco , California ) is an American artist . Since 1990 he has been called Hada .

life and work

Potts studied sculpture at San José State College, San José , where he received his MA in 1965. He lived in Marin County , California and since 2006 in Fairfield, Iowa . In 1977 Don Potts received a scholarship from the DAAD's artist program in Berlin . In the same year he exhibited at documenta 6 . He is best known for his work My first car , completed after six years of work in 1972 , an assemblage of four filigree car chassis made from different materials, which was perceived as an 'elegant requiem for the golden age of the automobile'. In 1987 he destroyed this work and joined the transcendental movement ofMaharishi Mahesh Yogi . Don Potts was also active as an academic teacher, built architectural models and exhibited his works in many galleries and museums in Europe and the USA, u. a. in the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin.
