Donald F. Sangster

Donald F. Sangster (* in Sherbrooke, Quebec ) is a Canadian deposit geologist and mineralogist.

Sangster earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Bishop's University, a bachelor's and master's degree in geology from McGill University, and a PhD in geology from the University of British Columbia (via Iron Skarn on Vancouver Island). From 1964 until his retirement in 1995 he was a deposit geologist with the Geological Survey of Canada . From 1971 to 1976 he was head of the mineral deposits section there. From 1986 to 1995 he was adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa .

In particular, he researched sulphidic copper-lead-zinc deposits in Canada, but also in Europe, Japan and Australia.

In 1994/95 he was President of the Society of Economic Geologists . In 1981 he received the Duncan R. Derry Gold Medal of the Geological Association of Canada , in 1984 the Silver Medal of the Society of Economic Geologists, in 1986 the Past President's Medal of the Mineralogical Association of Canada and in 1998 the Logan Medal .
