Donald "Don" Laws (born May 30, 1929 in Washington, DC , † December 2, 2014 in Sandy Spring , Maryland ) was an American figure skater and figure skating coach.
As a figure skater Laws took part as a single skater in the 1951 World Cup in Milan and finished seventh as the fifth-best American. His coach was the Canadian Osborne Colson .
After completing his competitive career, Laws became a figure skating coach. His students included Scott Hamilton , Michael Weiss, and Patrick Chan .
Laws was a member of the ISU Individual and Pair Skating Committee . He was involved in the development of the new evaluation system in figure skating .
