Donald Tolmie

Donald Ross Tolmie (born November 11, 1923 in Lindsay , Ontario , † March 18, 2009 in Pelham , Ontario) was a Canadian politician ( Liberal Party ).

life and career

Tolmie served as the Avro Lancaster Navigator during World War II . He later became a lawyer in Welland, Ontario , where he was an Alderman from 1957 to 1964. He then entered federal politics with the acquisition of a seat for the Welland District. In 1968 he was re-elected. After the end of the legislature, he left active politics.

From October 1971 to September 1972, Tolmie was Parliamentary Secretary to Ron Basford , then Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs .

Tolmie died at his home in Pelham, Ontario on March 18, 2009 , following an undisclosed illness .
