The Dongkya Ri (also Dokya Li ) is a six-thousander in the Dongkya group of the Himalayas in north Sikkim ( India ) near the border with Tibet .
It is located at the end of the Lachung Valley in the area of Mume Samdong in the headwaters of the Lachung Chu , the left headwaters of the Tista .
The Dongkya Ri is a delightful, steep pyramid summit of 6190 m . It is not approved for climbing by the Indian government.
From Lachung a slope leads towards the Dongkya La pass ( 5495 m ⊙ coord. ) Into the headwaters of the Tista near Kerang , which ends in the high valley Yume Samdong at a parking lot called Dongkya La Zero Point ( 4624 m ⊙ ), from which one can enter View of the mountain and the adjoining, unnamed, up to 6600 m high neighboring peaks. The Talung is because it is the Indian-Chinese border region, strict exclusion zone, although day trips are quite possible by jeep to this parking lot today.
