Dongosaro (place)
Dongosaro (also Sonsorol ) is the capital of the state (i.e. an administrative area) Sonsorol in the island republic of Palau . The place is in the west of the island of the same name Dongosaro .
geography
The place is the only village in the administrative area and is located in the west of the island on the beach. In 2014 there were 42 inhabitants.
administration
According to Article XI, Section 1 of the Sonsorol Constitution , the island of Dongosaro is a municipality and forms the capital of the State of Sonsorol, which also includes other uninhabited islands. In 1935, 153 locals and 7 Japanese lived on the island.
education
The Dongosaro School was founded in 1972 and has 13 students of different ages in one class.
economy
The livelihood of the inhabitants is covered by agriculture ( coconut palms ) and fishing.
traffic
Most traffic is by boat, with an airfield in the southwest of the state.
