Donna Leanne Williams , nee Keene , married Samuel (born October 13, 1963 in Melbourne - † April 22, 2017 in Australia ) was an Australian writer and artist . She was high-functioning autistic .

life and work

Her first book I Could Disappear When You Touch Me is an autobiographical work in which Donna Williams tells the story of her life from childhood to college. The book was published in the UK in 1992. It has been translated into twenty languages ​​and is a worldwide bestseller .

In her second autobiographical book If you love me, you stay away from me , Donna Williams told how she got her autistic idiosyncrasies under control and started a life of her own in Britain.

Another theme of the books is her childhood of violence and abuse. In 2010, her autism expert questioned the thesis that Williams had dissociative identity disorder .

On December 9, 2000, she married Chris Samuel. She lived with him in Australia. In June 2011 she discovered that she had breast cancer. She died of breast cancer on April 22, 2017.
