Dora Andres

Dora Andres (born April 17, 1957 ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ) who was active until 2006.

Political career

In 1992 Dora Andres was elected to the Brienz City Council. In 1994 she made the leap into the Bern canton parliament, the Grand Council . In 1997 she became President of the FDP Women of the Canton of Bern. In 1998 she was elected to the cantonal government.

She was a member of the FDP government for the canton of Bern for eight years (April 19, 1998 to May 31, 2006). She headed the police and military directorate. In 2000/2001 she presided over the government council .

In the asylum sector, she made decisions that earned her the reputation of a hardliner. During her reign, the municipal and cantonal police were also merged to form “Police Bern”.

After her reign, she presided over the Swiss Shooting Association from 2009 to 2017 , the third largest sports association in Switzerland with around 175,000 members.

Professional background

After graduating from the traffic school in Bern, Dora Andres worked as an operations planner at SBB . From 1985 to 1988 she trained as a business economist. From 1986 to 1992 she was the traffic director in Brienz , after which she founded her own company for advice, organization and training.

Dora Andres founded a service company in 2007 and is its co-owner.
