The church in Bechlin

The Bechlin village church is located in Bechlin , a residential area in Neuruppin in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg . The church is a listed building.

The church

The church was built in the middle of the 13th century. The hall building, which is covered with a gable roof, was made of layered and partially processed field stones. The original tower was presumably damaged in 1638 and replaced in the 18th century by a tower with a tent roof. The tower structure is boarded up. The east end is straight and has three staggered arched windows. There are pointed arches in three rows above these windows; There is one panel in the top row, three panels in the second row and four panels in the bottom row. There are pointed arch windows and three portals on the sides. The west portal is three-fold.

The interior is plastered, some of these plasters probably date from the Middle Ages. In the east there is a gallery with the organ, behind the organ there is a pointed arch. This pointed arch originally had an entrance to the tower. In the east there is a pulpit altar. In the south wall there is a niche with a round arch, here the fallen Bechliner in the First World War is commemorated.

The pulpit altar dates from 1713. The pulpit is flanked by columns. The four evangelists are on the gable, above is a glory of rays. There is an hourglass on the pulpit altar, which dates from 1725. Other furnishings such as the baptism, the stalls and the west gallery are from the first half of the 19th century. The patronage box and the parish stalls are to the right and left of the pulpit altar and the barriers. The organ was built in 1857 by Friedrich Hermann Lütkemüller from Wittstock / Dosse . The organ's prospectus is in neo-Gothic style. To the right and left of the pulpit altar there are two oil paintings. Pastor Johann Christoph Seger (1724–1773) and pastor Johannes Sarnemann (1582–1621) are shown on the left. On the south wall there is a freedom crown, it is reminiscent of the wars of liberation and can therefore only have been built after 1815. It is made of pewter, it is a headband with coins and an iron cross .
