The Bliesdorf village church is a neo-Gothic brick church in Bliesdorf in the Märkisch-Oderland district in Brandenburg . It is a cultural monument due to the Monument Protection Act of the State of Brandenburg .

Location and history

The church stands on the circular village square and is surrounded by hedges and lawns. On its south side there is a memorial for those who fell in the First World War .

There were two previous buildings on the site of today's church. The first church from the Middle Ages was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years War . A half-timbered church was built in 1701, but it was demolished before the current church was built because of its dilapidation. The current church was built between 1881 and 1882, the inauguration took place on November 6, 1882. The church was damaged during the Second World War , and bullet marks can still be seen on its west side. The roof and equipment were renewed. In 1951 the tower was given its current shape.

The church

The church is a hall building made of exposed bricks, it has a gable roof . The sacristy is located in an extension on its east side . The tower stands in the west, has a square floor plan and a slightly bent pyramid roof . The main portal is located in the tower porch.

The interior dates almost exclusively from the period after 1945 and is kept simple. In place of the destroyed organ is the inscription: " A strong castle is our God ". The pulpit altar was created by Samuel Liebenwald in 1698 and was previously in the church of St. Georg in Bad Freienwalde . The pulpit altar is carved from wood, in the middle there is the polygonal basket, flanked by twisted columns and acanthus cheeks . The risen Christ and two angels are on the sound cover .
