history

In Bralitz, with the settlement of businesses from the middle of the 19th century, the population grew, so that around 1870 the construction of a church was planned. After initial plans from 1881, the final plans were made by Ernst Milde in 1889, the foundation stone was laid on May 5, 1889. The church was consecrated on November 7.

The church was damaged during World War II . The destroyed glass windows were replaced in the early 1950s, and in 1953 the roof of the church and the tower were covered over. Painting work took place in the 1990s.

description

The church was built in the neo-Gothic style from red bricks. The hall church has three naves , a polygonal choir and a retracted tower. The gable roof is covered with slate and provided with four small dormers . The tower has a pyramid roof with four corner attachments.

You enter the church through the main portal in the tower. The stairs to the galleries branch off from the tower hall . The church interior has three aisles and the ceiling is a groin vault . The vaults are painted with ivy giants and oak leaves.

Furnishing

The altar from the construction period 1889/1890 was created by the Köppen carpenter's workshop from Königsberg (Neumarkt) . The top is a crucifix, crowned with a lamb of God with a flag.

The pulpit, also from the construction period, is made of wood. The pulpit shows a figure of Christ and four evangelists .

The organ was built in 1890 by the Sauer company from Frankfurt with 13 registers . In the war year 1917 the pipes in the prospectus were removed and melted down like the bronze bells. In 1924 the pipes were replaced by zinc pipes. The organ was restored between 2010 and 2015.

In the church there are 39 iron crosses on the gallery, these remind of war dead of the Second World War . In the choir there is a memorial plaque for those who fell in the First World War .

There are three steel bells from 1925 in the 51 meter high tower.
