The village church , a small half-timbered church with a quiet and well-tended church garden, was built in 1840. Nothing is known about a predecessor.

Recently, the parishes of Großhettstedt and Kleinhettstedt have been cooperatively linked with the parish Dienstedt . They belong to the parish of Arnstadt-Ilmenau of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
