The Protestant village church Hartmannsdorf , which is also the community center , is located in the Hartmannsdorf community in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish (parish area) Crossen in the church district Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The bell tower of Hartmannsdorf is visible from afar at Gottesacker in the valley.

Originally the Hartmannsdorfer attended the service in the church in Rauda to the west . In the first half of the 20th century they built the bell tower on the Hartmannsdorf cemetery . The church was supposed to be built later, but World War II ruined plans to build the church.

In the years around 1960, the site of an old brick factory was purchased . Young people from the GDR, Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia took part in the construction of two summer camps run by Aktion Sühnezeichen . The church was consecrated in 1968.
