The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church Krauthausen is located in the municipality of Krauthausen in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

history

The Krauthäuser village church was built from 1709. The associated massive tower is much older than the nave, which was built between 1709 and 1717.

After 1990 the church received new leaded glass windows designed by Hans-Peter Albrecht from Madelungen . The preserved gallery pictures of Moses and the apostles from the construction period have also been restored. In 2009 the 300th anniversary of the building was celebrated.

Interior

Inside are the two-story galleries on three sides, the pulpit from around 1800 and a simple baptismal font. The wooden vaulted ceiling of the nave is remarkable. The Eifert organ is still there, but not playable.

Above the altar that's Good Friday - and resurrection window arranged. On the north side are the windows with motifs from Christmas and Pentecost and on the south side they are next to the baptismal font, the baptismal window. A bell from 1958 is the resurrection bell . It bears a corresponding inscription according to John 11:25. The smaller bell is much older. It was repaired in the 18th century and cast in 1906. It bears the inscriptions "God bless Krauthausen" and "See, I proclaim you great joy". The bells are operated manually.
