General
The village church is located in the middle of a large property surrounded by a high wall. It belongs to the Evangelical Parish Leitzkau-Ladeburg in the Elbe-Fläming parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
The church was built in the 12th century from rubble stones from the Gommeran quarries, but has been rebuilt several times in the course of its history. In 1724 the nave was extended to the east and the west portal in the gate was walled up. It fell victim to the flames in the fire of 1853, but reconstruction began a year later. The largest intervention in the structure took place in the early 1980s. Since neither financial nor material means could be found for the renovation of the dilapidated tower, it had to be removed down to the eaves height of the nave. Since the roof of the nave was also damaged, two thirds of it was also worn off, this part was left open and a bell room was set up in it instead of the lost bell cage, in which the bell now hangs only a few meters above the ground. The nave is provided with a flat-angled coffered ceiling, which was painted with a flower decoration around 1920. There are galleries on the north and west walls. A baptismal font made of sandstone in 1607 is the church's oldest inventory item. The elaborately wooden pulpit altar , which is lined with two wooden sculptures depicting the evangelists Matthew and Mark, is remarkable.
