The Evangelical Village Church Merkewitz is a listed church in the village of Merkewitz in the Wallwitz district of the Petersberg community in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 55510 . It belongs to the parish area Teicha in the parish of Halle-Saalkreis of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

General

The village church, the patronage is no longer known today, is on the street Im Merkewitzer Winkel . Traces of alterations to the church can be seen on the nave . The two western windows are different from the eastern ones. A visible dividing line in the walls also runs between the pairs of windows.

War memorial

The war memorial for the fallen of the First World War is located in the cemetery of the village church . It is a common memorial for the places Dachritz , Westewitz and Merkewitz. The war memorial was erected in the form of a tombstone and bears the inscription Unseren Treuen Toten and the names of those who fell in World War I and those who died up to 1920. The war memorial is decorated with an iron cross and oak leaves.
