The village church of Mirow in Mirow, a district of Banzkow in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , is a church built in 1842 in neo-Gothic style on the field stone foundation of the former Mirow church.

history

The first church building in Mirow is documented for the 13th century. It is one of the churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Parish Uelitz in the Wismar Propstei, Mecklenburg Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

The church is one of the earliest examples of neo-Gothic construction. The Schwerin master builder Ludwig Bartning built it on behalf of Duke Paul Friedrich , the patron of the church. The tower was only built in 1883. The roofing of the tower and nave was renewed and no longer corresponds to the original condition. Originally the church tower had a pointed helmet.

Furnishing

Inside there is a pulpit altar , an altar shape that is not exactly common in Mecklenburg. An altar painting with the Emmaus disciples is a copy of a painting in the George Church in Parchim .

organ

The organ was built in 1857 by Johann Heinrich Runge (Hagenow). The instrument has 6 registers on a manual. The pedals are attached. Of the original 378 pipes, 355 have been preserved. The 23 prospect pipes, which had to be delivered for war purposes in 1917, were only renewed in their historical form during the restoration in 2000.
