The listed village church of Pieskow belongs to the Protestant parish in the Pieskow district of the Brandenburg municipality of Bad Saarow . Its carved altar in peasant baroque style from 1661 is the oldest in the health resort.

history

The red brick building was consecrated in 1867. In 1902 a fundamental renovation took place, which was welcomed by Empress Auguste Viktoria , as documented by a Bible with its handwritten dedication. The neo-Gothic church was built on the foundations of a half-timbered predecessor building mentioned for the first time in 1346, in which the graves of the long -established Junker dynasty of the Löschebrand were located. The crypt was filled in and is no longer accessible. In 1881 Theodor Fontane visited the village and church. The stalls, roof and electrics were repaired between 1999 and 2000. In 2001 the church was consecrated again. In 2009 the altar was secured and cleaned with donations. Its color restoration was completed on September 29, 2013.

Cemetery with the graves of Dorschs and Liedtkes

In the church cemetery are the graves of the UFA actors Käthe Dorsch , buried in 1957, and Harry Liedtke , buried in 1945, as well as a bronze plaque for those who died in the First and Second World Wars .

interior

The ceiling-high baroque altar in the form of a triumphal arch was created in 1661 by Daniel Schultz from Kolberg . It is adorned with sinuous columns, cartilage ornamentation, with writing as well as roughly carved wooden figures and wooden decorations. In the predella there is a painting of the Last Supper, in the middle a painting of the crucifixion and in the crown a painting of the Entombment of Jesus flanked by the four evangelists. It is unusual that there is no resurrection or ascension, and the burial of Christ is depicted as the crown. Since the work of art fits into the chancel unfavorably, it is assumed that an upper tower is missing and that it was originally intended for another building.

On the north side there is a wooden mansion gallery of baroque age. The sandstone baptism on a column drum with putti heads and acanthus wings is also baroque. The Sauer organ , which had not been playable for years, was repaired by an organ builder from Bad Saarow and presented to the public again in 2000 with a concert.

Say

An old prophecy wrestles with the Pieskow bell: as long as it rings, the extinguishing fire will last . The extinguishing fires were not only masters of the goods around the Scharmützelsee , but also respected at court. The bell called luck among the people of the fire extinguishers was supposed to ring in the festival on the evening before Pentecost 1793 and rattled. This gave rise to great worry and fear in the village. The bell, which previously rang for seven generations, was driven to Berlin with six horses and a black blanket and a pious saying was poured into it. But the ghost could not be averted. Since then, the luck of the fire extinguishing fires is over and it has never come back.
