History and architecture
A church was mentioned in 1233 in a document concerning the Rühn monastery . It stands on the highest point in the middle of the village and is characteristic of the town. It is made of field and bricks. The flat-roofed building with east end is structured by supporting pillars. A comprehensive renovation took place from 1873 to 1874, during which a neo-Gothic four-storey tower was built on the foundations of the old tower. Two bells were hung in this tower, which were replaced by two steel bells in 1927.
The Nußbrücker company replaced the first organ from 1897 in 1982 with a former small organ from Güstrow Cathedral.
During the renovation in 2004, the interior was given a new coat of paint, while the chairs and the wooden ceiling were replaced at the same time.
G. Tempel copied the altar panel with the depiction of the Descent from the Cross after Rembrandt. The carved altar from the end of the 15th century shows a crucifixion group in the shrine, in the predella the coronation of Mary is shown. The passion paintings in the wings are works from around 1420.
