The church

The Protestant village church Weißig is located in the district Weißig of the independent city of Gera in Thuringia .

history

In 1728 the old church, a street chapel, was demolished and the new church built, which was consecrated in 1732. In 1833 the tower roof was repaired. The spire received a gold-plated button and a weather vane .

In 1972 it was inaugurated after years of renovation.

In 1991 the windows were renewed, in 2001 the roof and facade followed.

The organ

The small baroque positive organ, built in 1740 for the palace chapel in Lichtenstein / Saxony , was acquired by the community in 1801. It is said to be the only surviving instrument of this type from Christian Ernst Friederici and also one of his oldest instruments, possibly his Opus 2. In 2010 it was made the instrument restored by the workshop for organ building C. Rühle .
