Wiegendorf village church
The Protestant village church in Wiegendorf is located in the community of Wiegendorf in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish of Mellingen-Umpferstedt in the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
After a major fire in the village during the Thirty Years War , the church was rebuilt in 1685. In 1739 the defective structure had to be removed and rebuilt.
architecture
The small church has a rectangular choir and arched windows and two doors one above the other on the south side. The choir has a flat ceiling. The new sober wooden altar, which replaced a baroque pulpit altar in 1931 , was not painted. Galleries and stalls from the 18th century were painted red in 1953–55.
The sandstone baptismal font with a base is from the 16th century. One of the two bells from the 15th century has been preserved.
