Doris house
Doris Haus ( May 13, 1807 in Mainz - January 11, 1870 in Stuttgart ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher .
Life
Doris Haus, daughter of a master builder on the Rhine bridge in Mainz, was educated in a boarding school in Cologne after the early death of her parents. A relative made it possible for her to train as a singer. After she was sufficiently prepared, she went to the stage and made her debut in Mainz in 1825 as "Konstanze" in the kidnapping . Soon afterwards she was engaged in Frankfurt (1825–1830) and Stuttgart (1830–1846). Especially in the latter city, where she worked as an artist until she left the stage, she was considered the darling of the audience, her "Donna Anna", "Romeo", "Fidelio", "Desdemona" etc. were excellent performances. In 1846 she retired and then worked as a singing teacher in Stuttgart.
Haus had a voice as bright as a bell, but still full, which was particularly suitable for the creations of German masters and less for Italian singing. Her beautiful, impressive personality, combined with her rich vocal resources, made her particularly suitable for tragic roles in which, as one of the most outstanding German stage singers, she was sure of victory with any rival.
