Dorji Yangki
Dorji Yangki is a Bhutanese architect .
Life
After attending a Jesuit boarding school in India, Dorji Yangki studied architecture at Deakin University in Melbourne , Australia, and worked in England, Norway and Japan. At the British University of York , she completed a degree in historic preservation ( Master ). From 2008 to 2009 she held the Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Design .
Yangki is chief architect and head of the Department of Monument Preservation at the Ministry of Culture in Bhutan. She is the first elected President of the Royal Bhutanese Institute of Architects.
Act
Since 1997 she has been the first female architect in Bhuthan to deal professionally with the topic of monument preservation. She is responsible for the restoration work of the famous Taktshang ( Tiger's Nest ) and Semtokha-Dzong monasteries . Among other things, she is responsible for the restoration of the Folklore Museum, the National Archives of Bhutan, the galleries of the National Museum and the offices of the Royal Academy of Performing Arts in Thimphu .
For Bhutan she is developing a spatial plan with a time horizon of 20 years.
