Live and act

Doro May grew up in an extended family in Essen and attended the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Kettwig . After graduating from high school, she studied German , education and music in Cologne and Aachen . She then embarked on a career in school service and has been a teacher at the Einhard Gymnasium Aachen for more than 20 years , where she teaches German, music and pedagogy and is also responsible for the school theater and the school cabaret "Zeitgeist".

Doro May is married, has three daughters and lives in Aachen. Encouraged by the social problems with her own daughter suffering from Down syndrome as well as by incidents of bullying at school , she found her way to writing. Your books My special daughter. Love for a child with a disability and Life is beautiful - there was no talk of easy ...: My special daughter is growing up are examples of this, as are her books published by School-Scout-Verlag about the problems of bullying at school, slipping into child poverty and the effects of family problems. The book Elisabeth's Pact , on the other hand, is written more for adults and describes the problems in a social hotspot using the example of Aachen's East Quarter from the perspective of an outsider and how the title character Elisabeth tries to create a spirit of optimism there.

In addition, Doro May dedicates himself to the problems of puberty and growing up under her pseudonym "Henni Liz Borßdorf" in youth literature . In addition, she and her colleague Margret Kricheldorf wrote a two-volume satirical yearbook on fictional criminal cases. Some of her socially critical works are, depending on the topic in the different class levels, part of the literature for the respective lessons.

Doro May works on the board of directors of the Euregio Maas-Rhein literature office and is listed in the Friedrich-Bödecker-Kreis. Doro May is also a welcome guest at readings in many cities in Germany and in neighboring Belgium.
