Dorothea Merck , also Dorothea Merckin (* in Frauenfeld ; † 1579 in Waldshut ) was a victim of the witch hunt in the city of Waldshut .

Pastor Joseph Ruch describes the story of the case in his revision of the book (1966) Die Geschichte der Stadt Waldshut . According to the documents, she was supposed to come from Frauenfeld and was employed at the Löwen inn, where she was accused of being drawn into the Löwen inn here in Waltzhuot in the Löwen tavern, and afterwards, on her confession, was charged with fire . After she was locked up in the Hexenturm and tortured, she was sentenced by the Waldshut City Court. The cremation took place at the high court , the place of execution, where the gallows also stood. The field name of the square is inside Schlatt (above the Fahrhaus tunnel) the southern branch of the Aarberg.

The files also name Dorothea Weiglin von hier , who was drowned in 1572, and an unnamed woman who was burned on July 10, 1596.
