Josef Harnisch

Josef Harnisch (born January 16, 1914 in Erlangen ; † November 2, 1982 in Trier ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and Lord Mayor of Trier from 1964 to 1976 .

Life

After an apprenticeship as a printer, he studied law in Düsseldorf and was first deputy in Heidelberg from 1951 to 1955 . From 1955 to 1964 he was finance and economic department in Münster and later city ​​director .

As successor to Heinrich Raskin , he became mayor of Trier in 1964 and held this office until his retirement at the end of 1976.

During his term of office, the completion of the canalization of the Moselle , the reopening of the university , the construction of the German Judges Academy and the construction of the Konrad-Adenauer-Brücke fell . He particularly supported the reconstruction of the Steipe on the main market , which had been destroyed in the Second World War .

The city of Trier commemorates its Lord Mayor with “Josef-Harnisch-Straße”.

In 1965, Harnisch became a member of the KDStV Ripuaria Freiburg im Breisgau .
