Laurent Butty (born July 3, 1925 in Freiburg im Üechtland ; † December 11, 1990 there ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Butty received his legal license in 1948 from the University of Freiburg and in 1953 he was admitted to the bar . From 1954 he was head of department in the management of the interior of the canton of Friborg and from 1957 to 1976 he was chief bailiff for the Saane district . Butty sat for the CVP in the National Council from 1971 to 1987 and was parliamentary group president from 1977 to 1980 and President of the Council in 1981. From 1982 to 1988 he was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and head of the Swiss delegation.

Butty worked as a European mediator between the Greek and Turkish communities in Cyprus , President of the Swiss Young Conservatives and Christian Socials and the International Union of Young Christian Democrats and Vice President of the international Catholic student and academic organization Pax Romana. He was chairman of various boards of directors, such as Cartier , Elevators Otis and Régie de Friborg .
