Karl de Nys

Fortunatus Jakob Arnold Karl de Nys (born July 3, 1833 in Aachen , † April 19, 1907 in Raeren Castle near Eupen ) was a Prussian politician.

Life

From 1862 to 1904 Karl de Nys was Lord Mayor of Trier . From 1867 to 1870 de Nys represented the constituency of the city and district of Aachen in the Prussian House of Representatives . 1885–1904 also member of the Prussian mansion . When he left office in 1904, he was made an honorary citizen of Trier for his 42 years of service to the city and its citizenship . He was buried in the family vault in Raeren . His grandson was the priest and musicologist Carl de Nys , who worked in France .

From 1850 he was a member of the Corps Guestphalia Bonn .

In the Heiligkreuz district , De-Nys-Strasse named after him also commemorates him.
