history

The Kotten Blanke in Holsterhausen on the former Dorstener Chaussee was one of about 50 farms and Kotten in Wanne-Eickel . The first mention of the owner Engelbert Blanke is in 1684, since then an inn has been operated here.

From 1743, the future owner, Friedrich Schlenkhoff, had to pay the fee for raising cattle to one of the two Vöden in Eickel. Around 1766 the Dorstener Chaussee was expanded to the Gahlener Kohlenweg so that carters on their way from Bochum to Gahlen found shelter here and had to pay the customs duties here. The former customs station was about halfway between Bochum and Gahlen.

The former Kotten was replaced by today's half-timbered house in 1839. The current building dates from 1775 and originally stood in Gladbeck. The current additions were added later, an exact dating of the additions is no longer possible.

In the building there is still a restaurant under the name Zum alten Fritz . The name probably does not go back to the Prussian king Friedrich II , but to the former owner Friedrich Schlenkhoff.
