The Dothideomycetidae are a subclass of the sac fungi .
The Ascomata are small to medium-sized and are located individually or in groups on the basal stroma. The fruiting bodies usually have an apical pore. Pseudoparaphyses are absent, and periphysoids may be present. The asci are spherical to ellipsoidal to cylindrical. The ascospores are hyaline, subhyaline, or dark brown. Their shape and size are variable. They are single-celled, or one to multiple septates .
The anamorphs are coelomycetic and / or hyphomycetic .
Systematics
The subclass Dothideomycetidae was first described by Schoch and others in 2006. They summarized three orders, which together represent the sister group of all other Dothideomycetes:
- Order Capnodiales
- Order dothideales
- Order Myriangiales
