The dothideales are an order of the hose mushrooms .
features
The types of Dothidiales are characterized by the fact that the Asci have two cell walls. They are therefore called bitunicate asci. The asci grow through the stroma , a fruiting body- like network of hyphae, and form loculae .
The Dothideales have smaller fruiting bodies (Ascomata) and fewer Asci than the Pleosporales and, in contrast to these, have no pseudoparaphyses .
ecology
The species live on plant material as saprobionts , biotrophs or hemibiotrophs .
Some species, the "black yeasts", live on moist plant surfaces and form anamorphs that resemble budding yeasts ( Aureobasidium pullulans , Sydowia polyspora ).
Systematics
Eriksson (2006) divides the order into two families:
- Dothideaceae with 13 genera
- Dothioraceae with 9 genera. According to Schoch et al. polyphyletic .
