Aureobasidium pullulans ( Syn . : Pullularia pullulans ) is an ubiquitous detectable yeast-like fungus thatcan colonizedifferent surfaces and habitats. He is z. B. found in soil, air and water as well as on many plant surfaces.

Aureobasidium pullulans occurs naturally on or in a wide range of plant species (e.g. apples , grapevines , pumpkins, beans and cabbage) without causing symptoms of disease.

Aureobasidium pullulans is also of great biotechnological importance in the production of various enzymes and siderophores as well as in the production of the polysaccharide pullulan . Furthermore, Aureobasidium pullulans is increasingly used for the biological control of phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria, for example to control fungal storage diseases and fire blight in apple cultivation.
