from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chemin de fer Arnaud (CFA; AAR identification : WLRS) is a Canadian railway company in the province of Québec .

The railway company has operated a 36-kilometer route from Arnaud Junction (near Sept-Îles ) to Point-Noire since 1965 . In Arnoud Junction, the connection to the Québec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNSL) is made. In Point-Noire, various rail connections are served.

The company is owned by the Wabush Mining Company , which mines iron ore in Wabush . The ore is transported from the ore mine by the CFA subsidiary Wabush Lake Railway via a connecting line to the QNSL. The QSNL then transports the ore from Wabush to Arnaud Junction. There the CFA takes over the ore and finally brings it to Point Noire. In recent years around 55,000 truckloads or six million tons of ore have been transported annually.

The three railway companies are currently forming a network with the Tshiuetin Rail Transportation route that has no rail connection to the rest of the North American rail network.
