Lowell Douglas English (* 25. August 1953 in Dallas , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive tackles . He played his entire career for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

English attended Bryan Adams High School in his native Dallas from 1968 to 1971 . He later attended the University of Texas at Austin . Here he played college football, and in 2011 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame .

Career

English was selected in the 1975 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions in the second round in 38th place. He was a permanent member of the Lions right from his first season. In total, he was elected to the Pro Bowl four times (1978, 1981, 1982, 1983). In 1983 he had his statistically best season, he recorded 13 sacks and two safeties .
