Doug Ingle

Douglas Lloyd Ingle (born September 9, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska , USA ) is a founding member and initially organist , composer and lead singer of the band Iron Butterfly . He also played briefly in Stark Naked and the Car Thieves in the early 1970s.

Life

Ingle was born in Omaha. He came into contact with music at an early age through his father Lloyd, a church organist. Shortly after his birth, the family moved from Nebraska to the Rocky Mountains and later to San Diego .

He worked for Iron Butterfly on the albums Heavy , In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida , Ball and Metamorphosis . The most famous song of the band, " In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida ", comes from his pen. With the other band members he wrote the hits "Soul Experience", "In the Time of Our Lives" and "Easy Rider".

Ingle left the group in 1971. Occasionally he toured with the previous band members since then, but was not involved in any of the follow-up albums Scorching Beauty and Sun And Steel .
