Douwe Draaisma

Douwe Draaisma (* 1953 in Nijverdal, Hellendoorn municipality , Netherlands ) is Professor of Theory and History of Psychology at the Dutch University of Groningen . His main focus is on the development of scientific knowledge about the diverse manifestations and psychological backgrounds of memory and recollection. His publications on this topic have received great international acclaim.

Draaisma's books have been translated into several languages. For his work "The Metaphor Machine ", published in 1995 , he was awarded the Heymans Prize by the Dutch Institute of Psychologists . For his bestseller “Why life goes by faster when you get older”, he received three literary prizes in the Netherlands, the J. Greshoff Prize , the Eureka! Book Prize and the Jan Hanlo Essay Prize .
