Coordinates: 31 ° 11 ′ S , 117 ° 2 ′ E The Shire of Dowerin is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 1847 km² and has about 700 inhabitants (2016).
Dowerin is located in the western Australian "wheat belt" in the center of the state about 140 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the village of Dowerin, where about 400 inhabitants live (2016).

The Dowerin Council has ten members, eight councilors are elected by the residents of the three wards (four from the Town Ward, two each from the Rural North and Rural South Ward). The Shire President and Deputy are elected by all residents of the Shire.
