Dozo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dozo are traditional hunters from the north of the Ivory Coast . They fought on the side of the rebels during the civil war from 2002 to 2007 and are accused of numerous massacres.

The traditional belief in magical abilities is widespread among the Dozos.

history

The Dozos took over the security tasks in the market from Korhogo in 2006 .

According to the Opération des Nations Unies en Côte d'Ivoire , members of the Dozo murdered 230 people on March 29, 2011 after taking the city of Duékoué during the government crisis of 2010/2011 . Alassane Ouattara denied that Dozo is fighting in the Forces republicaines de Côte d'Ivoire (FRCI). When the FRCI marched into Abidjan on March 31, 2011, however, there were many people among the troops who wore the typical headdress and amulets of the Dozo.
