Dröstorpmossen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dröstorpmossen is a bog on the Swedish island of Öland in the Baltic Sea .

The moor is located in the northern part of the Stora Alvaret in the south of the island. The name is derived from the place Dröstorp , which was located north of the moor, but which became desolate at the end of the 19th century .

Dröstorpmossen has open water areas. In the middle of the moor is an island, the area of which has increased in the past. In order to preserve the moor, attempts are made to counteract this silting up and to expand the area of the open water.

There are several rare species in the bog, such as the water cress and the floating celery . Also Harrier and Black Tern are present.
