Dr. Loew Social Services is a social service company in Bavaria that supports people with mental, psychological and physical disabilities, senior citizens and young people throughout the Bavarian region. Currently over 1,800 people are looked after in over 110 houses. With that, Dr. Loew is one of the largest private providers of social services in Bavaria. In the entire group of companies, Dr. Loew Social Services currently has more than 1,900 employees.

The company was founded in 1968 by Fritz Loew sen. The company is based in Wernberg-Köblitz in the Upper Palatinate . According to the founder Dr. med. Fritz Loew Sr. The company has been run in the third generation since 1999 by the great niece Sandra Loew.

In the first house in Neukirchen near Sulzbach-Rosenberg , mentally handicapped children, young people and adults were accepted. Since this mixture was not legally permitted, a division had to be made. The disabled children should move to the "Aumühle" house in Lower Bavaria . There was such massive popular opposition that the media took notice and Dr. Loew were offered suitable replacement properties in the Lower Bavaria region. In 1969 the second house, the “Schreinermühle”, was built in Kollnburg.

The differentiation according to the degree of disability led to further expansion. Next, the houses in Unterachtel were opened, which were occupied by school-age children and young people. Attached to it was a local, state-recognized special elementary school for the mentally handicapped. After the children and young people left school in the following years, it was necessary to find suitable day-structuring measures for this group of people. Occupational and occupational therapy came to the fore. The facility was then further differentiated in the adult sector.

Increased requests for admission from the field of the mentally disabled / mentally ill led to the fact that since mid-1993 within Dr. Loew also has its own facilities for this group of people.

Another focus was placed on dehospitalization projects at the beginning of the 1990s. In 2007, the company returned to working with children and young people.

The implementation of extraordinary projects accompanies the development of the family-run company. The music café B14 is currently operated with around 15 workstations for people with mild mental disabilities. The educational house "Learny" for people with learning difficulties should be unique in Bavaria.

The company donates the ConSozial Science Prize , endowed with 4,000 euros, annually , which is awarded at Germany's largest social fair in Nuremberg by the Bavarian State Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs, Family and Women .
