The dragon boat fun regatta in Duisburg is an annual sporting event in the inner harbor of Duisburg . According to the Guinness Book of Records , it is the largest dragon boat fun regatta in the world. At the same time as the regatta, an international harbor festival will take place in the inner harbor. It always takes place on a weekend in June.

Every year around 170 teams and 3500 participants from different countries take part in the regatta and race around every 7 minutes. The people on the dragon boats are partially disguised and are accompanied by a drummer . In addition to professional athletes, amateurs, companies and clubs also compete. On Saturday there is also a race with celebrities and a stand-up paddling tournament ("König-Pilsener-Challenge). At the end there is an award ceremony . Everyone can watch free of charge and without registration.

history

The first regatta took place in 2000. In 2005 the regatta made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the largest dragon boat fun regatta. In 2019, for the 20th anniversary, the largest dragon boat in the world took off.
