Dransdorfer Berg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dransdorfer Berg is an elevation in the Bonn district of Dransdorf . It is not a mountain in the sense of an elevation with a peak, but consists of a steep slope between the low-lying Dransdorf and the Meßdorfer Feld as well as parts of this higher area. In the place it is also called Endenicher Berg (after the neighboring district) or Steens Berg (after a former estate of a Stein family).

Slope with a bunker

The slope front is today characterized by an air raid shelter from the Second World War . Construction began on June 15, 1941, and was completed in 1943. Initially, 870 reclining and 250 seats were planned; As a result of a bombardment of Bonn on October 18, 1944, important medical facilities were moved to the bunker: parts of the surgical and internal departments of the Bonn University Hospital and the women's clinic.

At the upper edge of the slope there are residential buildings, behind which the Bonn city nursery was for a long time. Since 1996 a so-called "green play city" has been built on part of the site under the direction of the Deutscher Werkbund , in which "building and tree works" are to be combined. It was one of the "worldwide projects" at EXPO 2000 .

In addition, the city council decided on April 28, 2005 to draw up a concept for the use of the remaining area. According to this, the office for urban greenery and the non-profit society for employment promotion are to be located here.
