Dread was an American thrash metal band from Albuquerque , New Mexico that was formed in 2007 and disbanded in 2011.
history
The band was formed by Taylor Dread in mid-2007. For the first two years the band was seen as a one-man project until Dread met guitarist Antonio Camarena. James Gonzales joined the band as a drummer. Taylor now only played the electric guitar and took over the vocals. The band played their first gig on November 30th, 2008. A little later guitarist Mikey Armijo joined the band, so that Dread only took up the post of singer. Matt joined the band as a bass player. The band played their first appearance in this line-up on January 30, 2009. A few weeks later, bassist Matt left the band and was replaced by Joseph Chavez. After that, the band played on Thrashageddon in Albuquerque together with bands like Fueled by Fire , Merciless Death , Armored Assassin, Avenger of Blood , Ultimatum , Torture Victim and Suspended. Shortly after the performance, the band recorded their first demo called Slay the Kings . The band then recorded another record called Tuck You Into Death , which was initially to become their debut album. However, not enough usable material emerged from the recordings, so that it was only enough for an EP that was never released. A few months later, Matt "Sloth" Garcia joined the band as the new bass player. In 2010 the album Brace for Destruction was released through Nightforce Records .
In 2011 the band broke up again.
