Slewing gear 1719 Wachtberg-Adendorf
The Drehwerk 1719 is a cultural enterprise in Adendorf , district of Wachtberg . The slewing gear is located in Töpferstrasse. 17-19, therefore the addition “1719” was added to the name to avoid confusion with other companies.
The culture company was founded by the married couple Ille and Rudi Knorr in 2007 after they had previously acquired the property of the disused pottery Söndgen located there in 2003 in order to get a new place to stay for their cinema advertising agency.
After the renovation work for the advertising agency had been completed, thought was given to the use of the other old, vacant rooms in need of renovation. Due to the affinity to cinema, it was decided to commission a business administration student group to carry out a market research analysis with regard to the profitability of a cultural enterprise offering cinema, cabaret and gastronomy. This identified sufficient interest that the decision was made to tackle this project.
After the opening of the rotating mechanism in 1719, the operators were awarded the innovation prize of the then Filmstiftung NRW (today: Film- und Medienstiftung) in 2008 . a. was endowed with € 10,000 prize money. Because of the cinema program, the Drehwerk has also been awarded program cinema awards annually. The cabaret stage with a maximum of 70 seats is used with between 10 and 15 events per month by many artists from the fields of cabaret, comedy and various music interpreters. The bistro restaurant offers cabaret and cinema visitors the opportunity to indulge in culinary delights before or after the event.
