The Three Brothers Chapel is a listed wayside shrine in the Elixhausen community west of the main road to the Ursprung district .

history

The Ursprung Castle came to Baron Johann Josef von Rehlingen by inheritance in 1725 . In anticipation of any inheritance disputes, with the approval of the Archbishop of Salzburg on December 20, 1767, he founded the Rehling Fideikommiss Ursprung. This attempt to guarantee that Rehling's goods could not be sold after his death was subjected to a severe test after his death in 1773. The inheritance disputes were so intense that the Three Brothers Chapel was donated after they were settled.

The Elixhausen community has owned the wayside shrine since 1993. In 1995 the wayside shrine was moved a few meters to avoid damage from road traffic on the L101 and to be able to build a cycle path. In 2016 the wayside shrine was completely renovated.

Wayside shrine

The baroque brick three-sided pillar carries a shingle-clad pyramid roof over a cornice. On two sides there are tin pictures in small niches depicting saints, the miraculous image of Maria Plain , and the life of Christ. From 1951 to 1952 there was a restoration.
