Trinity oak
The Dreifaltigkeitseiche is a natural monument northwest of Aschach , a district of Bad Bocklet , in the Bavarian Rhön . It stands at about 320 meters above sea level . The English oak ( Quercus Pedunculata ) is located in a meadow on a small slope next to a dirt road. It was placed under nature conservation on October 15, 1965 and again on March 2, 1987. The oak with the number 672-N / 002 and the name Dreifaltigkeitseiche is listed at the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Bad Kissingen district .
description
Due to its location on the slope, the oak has a pronounced trunk base that is irregularly structured, with roots reaching down into the valley. The trunk has two large openings and is completely hollow up to the crown area. Two strong branches are also hollow. The trunk and crown are traversed by further openings. Due to trunk cracks, the tree has threatened to break apart for years. This is counteracted with several rope anchors in the crown. In 2009 two more ropes and two straps were attached to secure the crowns to prevent them from breaking apart. The vitality of the tree can be described as good with a decreasing tendency despite the externally noticeable damage.
The Lower Nature Conservation Authority specifies the age of the oak to be around 350 years. In 2012 the trunk had a circumference of 7.47 meters at the point of its smallest diameter. Measurements in 1992 also at the point with the smallest circumference showed 6.94 meters. The trunk circumference increases by about three centimeters per year, which is a lot for an oak of this size. At one meter height, the trunk circumference was 7.51 meters in 2008. With these dimensions, according to the German Tree Archives , for which the trunk circumference at a height of one meter is the most important selection criterion, the oak is at the lower limit, which starts at eight meters, of the nationally significant trees (NBB). The height of the oak is 17 and the crown diameter is 16 meters.
In the immediate vicinity are the Marieneiche (5.54 meters waist circumference) 50 meters south-east and the Marktbergeiche (4.77 meters waist circumference) about 600 meters south-east, two other strong oaks that are also registered as natural monuments. All three are owned by the Bad Bocklet community.
