Trinity Church

The Dreifaltigkeitskirche , together with the Martin Luther Church in the city center, forms the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Detmold within the Lippe Regional Church . It is the third and newest Lutheran church in Detmold and, after the Reformed Church in Hiddesen from 1951, the second church in Detmold, which was designed by the Hamburg architect Gerhard Langmaack .

History and architecture

Even before the church was built, there was a Lutheran parish with a parsonage on Wittenberger Weg in the north of Detmold. Therefore, despite its small size, this property was also intended for the new building of the church when Pastor Gerhard Klose developed the first plans in this direction around 1953.

Construction of the church began on September 10, 1960, on December 17, 1961, the third Advent, it was consecrated with a service.

Langmaack integrated the parsonage into his building concept and created a three-part structure, consisting of a church, parish hall and parsonage.

The actual church building is circular with a diameter of 12 meters and a height of 10 meters without a tower, except for a bulge on the east side. The centrally placed and narrow and pointed church tower with a cross reaches a total height of 31 meters. There are two Rincker bells in the tower (strikes g 1 and b 1 ).

The church and community hall can be connected to each other, so that there is space for up to 450 people.

Two large windows in the church interior face north and south. The windows were designed by the Berlin artist Egon Stolterfoht and are intended to represent the Trinity (north window) and the heavenly Jerusalem (south window).

The organ was built in 1966 by the Kleuker company from Brackwede and completely renewed and revised in 1993 by the Steinmann company from Vlotho. It has 14 registers.
