The Trinity Church in Troize-Lykowo ( Russian Троицкая церковь в Троице-Лыкове ) is a 17th-century Russian Orthodox church in the historic town of Troize-Lykowo in the northwestern administrative district of Moscow , 24 Odintssovsskaya Street.

history

The old village of Troitskoye in the northwest of Moscow was already known in the 16th century and had a wooden Trinity Church, which gave the village its name ("Troiza" means Trinity ). The second part of the place name, "Lykowo", is the family name of the boyar Boris Michaylowitsch Lykow-Obolensky, to whom this village was given as a gift by Vasily Shuissky . He had no heirs and after his death the place was handed over to the noble Naryshkin family. A stone Trinity Church was built between 1698 and 1703 by order of the boyar Martemjan Kirillowitsch Naryshkin, an uncle of Peter the Great and owner of Troize-Lykowo. The church was consecrated in 1708. The wooden church fell victim to a fire in 1937.

During the French invasion in 1812 , the Holy Trinity Church was robbed. The church was closed to services under Soviet rule . In 1935 the church was added to the list of outstanding monuments by the League of Nations . In the 1970s, a restoration began under the direction of IW Ilyenko, but had to be canceled due to financial problems. In 1989 the Trinity Church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church . The church has now been completely restored.
