Drescher's bench

The Drescher Bank is a bank in the Weddell Sea off the Princess Martha Coast of Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It lies at a depth of at least 200 m below sea level .
It was named at the suggestion of the surveyor and glaciologist Heinrich Hinze from the Alfred Wegener Institute . It is named after the German biologist Heinz-Eberhard Drescher (1944–1983), who was involved in studies of the population of Antarctic marine mammals.
